Welcome to Unfinished Acres!
Unfinished Acres Update:
Life changes and so we are changing with it. One of the most incredible experiences of my life has been working with my wife Becky in creating Unfinished Acres and during this time breeding Kikos, Boers, Nubians, Katahdin Sheep, Chickens, Rabbits and Horses, we’ve streamlined our operation where we are now only breeding Kiko Goats and Nubian Goats.
One of our Joy’s was breeding Maremma Sheepdogs. They are amazing LGD’s and we still have ten that we have bred guarding our herds. We highly recommend anyone looking for an LGD to consider a Maremma. One good place to start the search would be the Maremma Club Breeders Directory. https://maremmaclub.org/breeders-directory/
If you have an interest in high quality Kiko’s we’d look forward to hearing from you.
Starting with a bare 60 acre parcel, Unfinished Acres is now 130 acres in what we feel is one of the prettiest mountain communities in America.
Being in the mountains, the livestock has to be hardy to thrive and the LGDs have to be able to handle coyote, bear, mountain lions and the occasional stray human.
We’ve tried a little bit of everything. We’ve raised chickens and rabbits for meat, have had up to 24 Nubian dairy goats in milk, Boers, Kikos, Katahdin Sheep, Great Pyrenees and Maremmas in addition to a stray horse or two to keep things interesting.
What we’ve found as we’ve fine-tuned our livestock is that for us, the Kiko is an exceptional meat goat and the Maremmas seem to be the best fit for small ranches. After eight years we are now specializing in Kikos and Maremmas. They’re a great match for us and for many ranches with similar goals.

Our Maremmas are partners not pets, livestock guardians, not companions.
With regards to Maremmas, our goal is to have our dogs self-reliant as they are on their own with their charges 24/7.
We are no longer breeding Maremma Sheepdogs.
If you have an interest in Maremma LGD’s I would recommend beginning your search with the Maremma Club at:

We hope to have one of the strongest Kiko lines on the West Coast.
Check out our Kiko page to see why we think we do.
We currently have 25 registered Purebred does available. They were born in April / May of 2025.
We have 42 Does Kidding in April / May 2026 and will have Bucklings and Wethers available beginning July 2026.
